  • If you could do anything with your life, what would you do?

I have a deep passion for mission work in Nicaragua and Honduras. Though I’ve only been to each country once, the service being done there is so incredibly needed. If I could do absolutely anything with my life, it would be to better the lives of Honduran and Nicaraguan people through building schools, improving healthcare, and giving members of their societies the resources to support themselves.

  • What is your favorite Mizzou memory?

I traveled to Starkville, Mississippi on a Mizzou Alternative Breaks trip to serve with fellow members of the Alumni Association Student Board at Starkville’s Habitat for Humanity. On our final day there, the leader of Starkville Habitat told us that “it isn’t about building the house because the house will be build regardless, it’s about building relationships with the people you’re with.” This really stuck with me because in college, or frankly wherever you are, if you’re not building relationships with people, how meaningful is your experience? From this moment forward at Mizzou, I have constantly reminded myself to stop and talk with friends and peers in order to build on the relationships we have established and have continued to seek out relationships that may still be able to be built.

  • What excites you the most about being a 2016 Summer Welcome Leader?

I’m so excited to welcome all of the new students to my home. This place is full of so many opportunities, rich traditions, and wonderful people. My experience here has been full of great things and I can’t wait to introduce thousands of new students to all of the wonderful things in store for them.

  • How do you make Mizzou your home?

Find your people. There are so, so many outlets and organizations to get involved in. Throughout the first few weeks of school there will be tons of informational sessions, involvement fairs, and other various events that allows you a little taste of Mizzou. Find things you might be interested in and put yourself out there. You never know if you like something until you try it. I made Mizzou my home by stepping out of my bubble. I joined an organization on campus where I knew no one and now many of them are some of my closest friends.

  • If you had a theme song to describe yourself, what would it be and why?

“I Lived” by OneRepublic. The song is all about living life in the moment and with no regrets. It definitely describes who I am. I go with the flow and try my best to not let things get to me. In life, curveballs are thrown at you every single day. I like to think that my life will be defined by how I react and respond to those things and this song reminds me of that.
