At Mizzou we recognize that families are in transition when students journey to college. Orientation to university life is important to help parents and other family members understand and support their new students. Therefore, a specially tailored parent/guest program will be provided for all parents and guests attending Summer Welcome
Orientation fee and Meals
Every parent and guest over age 18 must pay an $22 orientation fee ($18 for Transfer dates). This fee covers a continental breakfast when you arrive on day one, social activities and all orientation publications. The orientation fee does not include meals or campus housing. Parents and guest may purchase, in advance, a discounted four-meal plan for $28, to eat with their student throughout Summer Welcome. Parents and guests may also purchase individual meals upon arrival with cash or debit card (please be advised that the line can get long).
Housing Options
Mizzou has a limited number of parent and guest rooms (two beds per room) available. On a first-requested, first-served basis, these rooms will be assigned to parents and guests at the rate of $29 per person.
- Parents and students are not housed in the same buildings.
- The Residence Hall is suite- style living
- Bathroom’s will be shared by up to four guests
- Guest attending alone will share a room with another parent of the same sex.
We will notify parents and guests if housing fills up and is no longer available. We will also mail a hotel list with the confirmation letter for parents or guests who do not want to lodge in campus residence halls.
The Summer Welcome office must receive room cancellation requests three business days before your session.

Office of Parent Relations
The Division of Student Affairs houses the Office of Parent Relations—a central campus resource for parents of MU students. Parental involvement plays a significant role in higher education. The office assists parents in understanding their role in their student’s transition to MU, provides clear lines of communication with the University and serves as a gateway for positive parental involvement and partnerships.
All parents are encouraged to visit the MU parent Web site: mizzouparents.missouri.edu
