If you could do anything with your life, what would you do?
This is a really hard question. One part of my brain says that I’d just travel the world and eat McDonalds menu items that are country specific. The other part of my brain says that I should wish to give back to the people around me, in some capacity or another, to thank them for all the growth they’ve provided me. Maybe I’ll do a little of both.
What is your favorite Mizzou memory?
I think one of my favorite memories at Mizzou would be my first day back, sophomore year. The summer after freshman year, I knew I wanted to do more and really challenge myself, so when I came back to Mizzou I hit the ground running. I visited as many events, tried to meet the most amount of people in a short capacity of time, and also find some organizations that matched me best. My whole sophomore year has been molded by that one week of challenges and I’m so happy with the outcome. Sophomore year has truly been such a journey for me. It’s only up from here.
What excites you the most about being a 2017 Summer Welcome Leader?
So much! Ever since my freshman year, I’ve wanted to be able to become a Summer Welcome Leader, and now that I made it, you better believe I’m going to make the most of everything. This is an opportunity where I can help so many people learn that college isn’t as scary as it looks, teach some awesome traditions and history of Mizzou, but also make some lifelong friends and memories.
How was your transition process into Mizzou from high school?
I’d be lying if I said I got here and suddenly felt acclimated. It took a hot second, lets be real. I came with very few friends from my high school and often times that led me to feeling a bit lost and lonely, so I went out and looked for new opportunities! Mizzou has a student organization, a club, a resource, a something, for somebody. Don’t stay in your dorm, get out and explore! You won’t know what your missing until you find it. Once you find it, you won’t look back. I promise that.
What is your favorite spot on campus? Why?
My favorite spot on campus is the Student Center! At first glance, it probably doesn’t seem that unique of a location, but I go there everyday and just enjoy taking the environment in. It’s a point of convergence for so many students, because of that you really get to see the amazingly colorful spectrum of Mizzou’s population. Not only do you get to people watch, you also get access to so many bountiful resources within the Student Center.
If you had a theme song to describe yourself, what would it be and why?
My theme song would probably be “Be Alright” by Ariana Grande. Not only is this song an underrated bop, its lyrics also reflects a lot of my personal opinions about life and how you get to make the negatives into positives. Sometimes things get hard, but you can always find resolution from problems and become better along the way. Everything will be alright.
