Parents & Families

To keep you and the rest of the Tiger family safe, orientation session are taking place online this year.

Please check your email frequently for details and return to this site for the most up-to-date information.

A student’s transition to Mizzou is shared by the whole family. Attending orientation as a parent or guardian allows you to get answers to your questions and address your concerns about your student’s college journey.

During orientation, family members learn about college life at the University of Missouri.

This is more than just another campus tour. Even if you are already familiar with the campus, this program includes a series of special presentations designed to help you gain additional information about the University and its resources.

Orientation is the first step in an incoming student’s transition to Mizzou. We welcome and encourage you to join us.

Attending orientation as a family member

Summer Welcome

Registration

Each parent or guest age 18 and older is required to pay a $23 attendance fee for the two-day session or $19 for the one-day session.

This fee covers a continental breakfast on Day One, social activities and all orientation publications. The orientation fee does not include meals or campus housing.

Meals

Freshman parents and guests may purchase, in advance, a discounted four-meal plan for $31 to eat with their student throughout Summer Welcome.

If purchasing the meal plan at Summer Welcome, you will need to bring cash or check only.

Parents and guests may also purchase individual meals upon arrival with cash or debit card at the dining facility (please be advised that the line can get long).

Housing

Mizzou has a limited number of double-occupancy parent and guest rooms available for $30 per person, per night.

Parents and students are housed in separate buildings. The guest residence hall is suite-style, with bathrooms shared by up to four guests (one bathroom per two double-occupancy bedrooms).

Guests attending alone will share a room with another guest of the same gender.

We will notify parents and guests if housing fills up and is no longer available. Parents and guests are welcome to arrange for off-campus accommodations if preferred.

The Office of New Student Programs must receive room cancellation requests at least three business days before your session begins.

August Orientation
