How to: Summer Welcome

Welcome Tigers! We’re so glad you’re here. Read on for a step-by-step guide to make the most of your Summer Welcome experience.

First Things First

Register for Summer Welcome Online if you haven’t already.

Once you’ve registered, you can complete your Summer Welcome pre-orientation modules in Canvas. Find more info on this required step in the “Before Summer Welcome” section below!

Go to Canvas

If at any point you have a question or need help accessing your sessions, you can hop into the Summer Welcome HQ in Zoom, where staff will be available Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (Central Time) to help get you where you need to go.

Before Summer Welcome

In May, complete your required pre-orientation modules in Canvas. These modules prepare you for your Summer Welcome activities with helpful information about campus life and student services.

You must complete your Divisional Orientation Module and Quiz before you can meet with an academic advisor and register for classes during Summer Welcome, so we recommend getting them done as early as you can.

Parent & family Pre-Orientation resources

The Parent & Family Resources page on this site has orientation information for family members to explore before Summer Welcome. If you have a parent or family member planning to attend Summer Welcome with you (online or in-person!), this page will get them up to speed so they’re ready for the presentations and Q&As during your session. The page is available year-round, so they can come back to it any time.

A few days before

You’ll receive an email to your official MU student email account with a personalized schedule and Zoom links to your presentations, Q&As and events. (Note: if you’re attending an in-person session, this email will include parking and check-in instructions, as well as the most up-to-date COVID-19 safety info).

You’ll get a second email to your MU email account from your academic advisor, with a calendar invitation for your academic advising appointment. This will include the time of your appointment and your Zoom link. Note: You won’t receive this email until after you’ve completed your Divisional Orientation Module and Quiz. That’s why it’s important to complete pre-orientation as soon as you can!
