If you could do anything with your life, what would you do?
Make people laugh. As a kid I loved to entertain my friends by creating some very elaborate games where an incredible amount of imagination was required (because we can’t actually be wandering through a ghost town or time traveling to the Renaissance to catch a singing supervillain). But as an adult I’ve become involved in the comedy orgs on campus, so in a way I still get to do this. Even outside of my involvement I enjoy being able to add a little bit of light to someone’s world via a giggle or two.
What quote do you live by?
The quote I live by is more like a parable, but I just tell myself “long spoons” when presented with a difficult scenario. Essentially the parable of long spoons describes a room where people are sitting in front of the most glorious meals but are only given these extraordinarily long spoons to eat with. These spoons are so long that they can’t feed themselves, so they’re withering away from hunger. But in another room, people are again in front of wonderful food and have these long spoons, but instead of trying to feed themselves, they’re using their spoons to feed those around them. So they’re all happy and fulfilled. This mentality closely relates to how I live my life because I seek ways to uplift others by giving back that which I already have (time, energy, resources, laughter, friendship etc.).
