Who would you say is/are your role model(s)? Why?

Some of you may know of the hit shows Laguna Beach (2004-2006) and The Hills (2006-2010). And, if you do know anything about these shows, it’s that they were among the first widely successful reality TV shows. They both followed the lives of a group of young wealthy California teenagers, most importantly Lauren Conrad, as they moved through their lives. Lauren Conrad has become my role model because her impressive ability to be a drama queen and retain complete control of a situation speaks to me; her theatrics and ability to cry on demand shaped me into who I am today, and her ability to capitalize off her exploitation by the media and turn it into a multi-million dollar industry surrounding her lifestyle blog is truly inspirational.

If you had a theme song to describe yourself, what would it be and why?

Lip Gloss – Lil Mama. This song, while truly forming my entire childhood, is very applicable to my daily life. I ask myself every morning “is my lip gloss, indeed, poppin’?” where my lip gloss isn’t necessarily lip gloss – the lip gloss can be any part of my outfit. If something on my outfit isn’t poppin’, I have to change. I’m a firm believer in always looking your best and Lil Mama inspires me to this day.

What quote do you live by?

“Aut viam inveniam aut faciam” – Either I will find a way or I will make one.

How was your transition process into Mizzou from high school?

My transition from high school to Mizzou was actually quite easy in comparison to my transition from grade school to high school. I had a really rough transition going into high school, so going through that ordeal four years prior to my freshman year at Mizzou helped me come to terms with living away from my parents.

What is your favorite dining hall and why?

My favorite dining hall is Plaza 900, hands down. The staff are always so cheerful and helpful. Plus, I think that they have the best food at Plaza. I mean, who DOESN’T want a made-to-order stir fry bar?
