Summer Welcome Online

To protect you, your family, our staff and current students, we will be offering Summer Welcome as an online experience this summer. You’ll still get all the information you need to be ready for your first semester at Mizzou!

Below you’ll find answers to our most frequently asked questions about the move to online sessions. We’ll update this page regularly as new information becomes available. For registration help, visit our main FAQ page. For more information about Mizzou’s response to COVID-19, you can visit admissions.missouri.edu/covid19 and mualert.missouri.edu.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve already registered for orientation. What do I need to do now that orientation is online?

Nothing! You will keep the Summer Welcome dates you’ve already chosen and attend your session virtually using Zoom video calls. Day 1 will be your orientation for your academic division, and on Day 2, you will have your one-on-one advising session to register for classes and receive your partial schedule. We’ll email you with more information by May 1.

I already paid the $300 enrollment fee. Will I get a refund?

No, but that’s because it is your enrollment fee for attending Mizzou, not a payment for orientation. It’s required for all new, degree-seeking students. If you have decided not to attend Mizzou this fall, the fee can be refunded until May 1. Learn more at cancel.missouri.edu.

If my family member has registered for guest housing, will I receive a refund?

Yes, you will receive a refund in the next few weeks.

Will I get a refund for the meals I’ve paid for during Summer Welcome?

Yes, you will receive a refund in the next few weeks.

I paid to do Tiger Climb. Will I get a refund?

Yes, you will receive a refund in the next few weeks.

I ordered a t-shirt. Can I still get it?

Yes. You can pick up your t-shirt during move-in this fall.

Will I still get to interact with other students?

Yes, you will! Freshmen will get to meet virtually in small groups with other new students and with their Summer Welcome Leader during Day 1. Transfer students will be able to participate in a panel discussion with a group of current students on their chosen Summer Welcome day.

Will I still be prepared for life at Mizzou with a different format for Summer Welcome?

Yes! Summer Welcome going virtual doesn’t mean this is a downgrade. You’ll be every bit as prepared to live and learn at Mizzou after Summer Welcome this year.

And your support doesn’t stop with Summer Welcome. You’ll receive a series of emails from New Student Programs over the summer detailing financial aid, parking, housing, student organizations, and more.

There will also be events during Welcome Week to help you acclimate to life on campus.

What format will the Summer Welcome sessions be in?

Many sessions will be videos that you’ll be able to access on your own time and at your own pace. Others, including your academic advising meeting and some small group sessions, will be held via Zoom call.

What is Zoom? How do I download it?

Zoom is a free virtual video/chat platform that will allow you to participate in your Virtual Advising Day. If you’re able, we’d like you to download Zoom before your Summer Welcome session. You can do this right now at zoom.us/download.

What if I don’t have access to a computer, tablet, smartphone or internet?

Please contact us directly at summerwelcome@missouri.edu or 573-884-9868. We will do everything we can to make sure you get access to all the information you need.
