My favorite spot on campus:
My favorite spot on campus is definitely the columns at night during the fall. There are dim-lit lights surrounding the ground of the columns which create a perfect environment to relax and decompress for the day. The temperature is also perfect during the fall because it isn’t as hot as a summer day, but also not as cool as the winter. I’ve definitely spend more time than the average person sitting on the columns having nice conversations about anything.
My favorite Mizzou tradition:
My favorite Mizzou tradition is the Midnight Barbecue during Welcome Week. For me, it was an experience like no other to be out late at night, hanging out with new friends and getting to know many more people. The event was set up party-style where the mood was relaxed and everyone was having fun. It was also definitely fun for me, being a person who had a strict curfew and wasn’t allowed to go to parties.
What advice do you have for incoming Mizzou students?
Go to the games! Even if you aren’t a sports fan, I would still highly recommend it to any incoming student. Nothing will compare to my first Mizzou football game and the lively environment that is so unreal, it felt like a lucid dream. Along with that memory, I will never forget about when we beat KU and stormed the court after the game (even though the SEC fines Mizzou $100,000+ for it: oops). I guess if you’re wanting “real” advice, make sure you introduce yourself to your professors. Become familiar with them so that they can act as a resource (you never know when you are going to need extra help). M I Z!
