What surprised me about Mizzou’s campus:

What surprised me most about Mizzou’s campus was how easy it is to get involved and jump right into things, especially as a journalism major. I expected to have to wait a year or two before getting real experience, but there are so many opportunities for freshmen to hit the ground running. Through organizations like Her Campus, KCOU, and The Maneater, you can immediately get your feet wet and start building real skills. It made campus feel ambitious and hands-on in a way I didn’t fully expect.

My favorite spot on campus:

My favorite spot on campus would have to be the first floor of Ellis Library. My friends and I quickly established it as our safe haven, and we go there almost every weekday to hang out and get work done. The first floor has the Bookmark Café, which is delicious and honestly very comparable to Starbucks. I love that it mixes a quiet library atmosphere with a space where you’re still allowed to talk, and it’s usually packed with students doing the same thing we are. It’s also open 24 hours Sunday through Thursday, which also makes it the perfect place no matter how late our study sessions go.
